Florida Stay Sweet belongs to mid-maturing varieties of the sh2 group. Its kernels are characterized by intense sweetness, and the hybrid itself possesses good transportability and the ability to retain flavor quality for a long time after harvesting.

Cultivation requires warm soil with a temperature of 15–18°C or higher. Spatial isolation of at least 75 meters from other types of corn is necessary to prevent cross-pollination, which can cause the kernels to become tough and starchy.

The variety shows tolerance to certain diseases, including common rust and Stewart's bacterial wilt. In agronomic literature, it is often used as a classic example for research on seed physiological maturity.
