The sweet corn hybrid named Rival appears in lists of hybrids tested in scientific research dedicated to the comparative evaluation of varieties under irrigation conditions. In documentation from previous years, it is also known by the designation XPH 2565.

In agronomic descriptions, the hybrid is characterized as an early-maturing variety intended for processing, possessing tolerance to smut infection. In literature, the variety name is sometimes associated with the breeding activities of the company Asgrow.
