The BC Alarik hybrid was bred by the company Bc Institut (Bc Institut za oplemenjivanje i proizvodnju bilja d.d.). In the official variety registers of the Republic of Croatia, it is registered as maize grown for grain.
In scientific literature, the variety is mentioned in the context of using seed material for laboratory research on plant physiology. The variety is not a development of the company Limagrain, which acted only as a supplier of seeds for research purposes.
