The silage mass has increased digestibility due to a reduced lignin content, a favorable ADF/NDF fiber ratio, and a high content of floury endosperm in the grain. The fiber content is approximately 45.7% of dry matter, and starch content is approximately 23%.
The crop can be used both as a main crop and as a stubble crop. The recommended seeding density is 65,000–70,000 plants per hectare under normal conditions and about 60,000 in unfavorable conditions or for stubble seeding. Cultivation on sandy soils is not recommended, and irrigation is mandatory for stubble seeding.
