The line belongs to the Lancaster group of the Mo17 subgroup. It is used as a parental form, predominantly as a pollen parent, in the development of high-yielding maize hybrids.
In studies, hybrids created on the basis of this line show reduced grain moisture at harvest. The line itself is characterized as drought-sensitive and has been used in experiments as a test subject for studying drought tolerance.
