The maize hybrid Asteri CS is characterized as a mid-early simple hybrid of the flint-dent type with an FAO rating of 240–260. The plants are of impressive size and well-developed, showing very good pollination. The hybrid is suitable for obtaining high dry matteryields with an optimal ratio of starch to cellulose.
The plant possesses excellent drought tolerance. The recommended plant density before harvest is 75–80 thousand plants per hectare. Breeding efforts are underway to increase resistance to typical diseases, including common smut, helminthosporiosis, and Fusarium of leaves, stems, and ears.
