The maize hybrid Bc 222 was developed by breeders at the Croatian Bc Institut. Documentation contains references to the line or seed material BC 222 N.
In scientific experiments, the hybrid was used to study the influence of sowing density and carbon dioxide concentration on yield indicators and plant growth. Studies of the hybrid's parental lines under artificial inoculation conditions showed sensitivity to the leaf spot pathogen Bipolaris zeicola.
