The Benicia corn hybrid belongs to the mid-season group with a maturity number of K 250 (a range of 270–300 is indicated in some sources). Plants are of medium or above-medium height and are characterized by a dent grain type.

The variety possesses the Stay Green effect. It is characterized by moderate resistance to lodging and satisfactory resistance to stalk rot. In European studies, the hybrid has been repeatedly used as a conventional standard.
