Cusco is a folk Peruvian maize variety grown in the Urubamba Valley. The plants reach a height of 200 to 500 cm. The kernels are distinguished by their large size, with a weight of 90–95 grams per 100 seeds, which significantly exceeds the metrics of standard varieties.
The crop is late-maturing with a growing period of 120 to 150 days. The variety is adapted to the mild conditions of high-mountain valleys and is characterized by low resistance to strong winds. It is used for food purposes; the local name is choclo.
