The «Damon» maize hybrid was mentioned in official state registers of Italy starting from the 1980s. Responsibility for maintaining the purity of the variety rested with the company Venturoli Sementi; a connection between the hybrid and the company Nickerson SA Semences was also noted.
Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant, data on disease resistance, and the intended use of the grain are absent in available historical documents. The hybrid no longer appears in modern breeding catalogs.
