The maize hybrid DK 523 belongs to the early developments of Dekalb Genetics. During the period of its active use, it was classified as a medium-late hybrid, presumably corresponding to FAO 400–450 group.
In studies of the early 2000s, the hybrid was used as material for a comparative analysis of grain nutritional value and silage quality. Currently, the variety is considered obsolete and is absent from current commercial portfolios.
