DKC 2972 is a simple corn hybrid (Zea mays L.) of the mid-early maturity group (FAO 200). The plant is vigorous, well-leafed, reaching a height of 300–350 cm with a semi-erect leaf orientation. The ear is attached at a height of 100–110 cm and contains 16–18 rows of flint-dent type kernels.
The hybrid is intended for cultivation for grain, silage, and biogas. It possesses rapid early growth vigor and good cold tolerance. The yield potential for dry grain is 13–16 t/ha, and for green mass up to 700 c/ha. The thousand kernel weight is 340–350 g.
The plant is noted for high resistance to root and stalk lodging, as well as field resistance to Fusarium stalk and ear rot. The hybrid is adapted to stress conditions, including spring cold and moisture deficit, and is recommended for sowing at a rate of 70,000–90,000 plants/ha.
