DKC61-42 is a commercial non-transgenic hybrid used as a standard reference sample when evaluating the nutritional value of grain and silage, as well as in studies of pollen morphology.
The hybrid is sensitive to the effects of dicamba herbicides, which manifests as a reduction in plant height, tassel deformation, or the development of root system anomalies known as "onion leafing".
