The MAS 16B hybrid is intended primarily for the production of silage used in dairy farming and for biogas plants. The plant is distinguished by high fiber digestibility and the potential for grain use.
The plant belongs to the early-maturing group, possesses a tall stem height, and a flint-dent grain type. The thousand kernel weight is 320–340 g. The ear contains 14–16 rows with 26–30 kernels each.
The hybrid possesses high resistance to lodging, stalk rot and ear rot caused by Fusarium, as well as moderate resistance to Helminthosporium leaf blight. The features of the crop include high drought tolerance, good early vigor, and long-term retention of green mass.
