The variety is a plant up to 1.5 meters tall with sturdy stems and leaves that may have a reddish tint. The ears are narrow, 15–20 cm long. A characteristic feature is the grains of various colors: white, yellow, red, purple, black, and orange.
The plant belongs to cold-tolerant and disease-resistant varieties. The ripening period for consumption in boiled form is 70–80 days, and up to full maturity is 100–110 days. It is used for food at the milk-wax stage of maturity, and mature grains are suitable for processing into flour, grits, or for making popcorn.
