The line belongs to the No-Reid germplasm type and is intended for breeding work. It possesses high resistance to Fusarium ear rot, however, it is characterized by insufficient lodging resistance and susceptibility to southern corn leaf blight.
During seed germination, PH4CV is sensitive to low temperatures. When using this line in hybridization, high nitrogen use efficiency is noted in the progeny, as well as traits such as shortened stems and a stay-green effect.
