PHBAB is a registered inbred maize line. This material is used by breeders as a parent component for the development of commercial hybrids and is not intended for commercial grain or silage production.
In scientific literature, the abbreviation phbAB may also designate genetic constructs consisting of β-ketothiolase and acetoacetyl-CoA reductase genes. These constructs are used in biotechnological research to create plants capable of accumulating polyhydroxybutyrate.
