The line was developed by the pedigree breeding method through six generations of self-pollination from a hybrid obtained by crossing lines PH5BC and PH50P. It is a yellow dent maize selected for yield, grain quality, stalk strength, and plant health.
In terms of morphological characteristics, the line resembles PH7CP, but differs from it in the length of the central spike of the tassel and a smaller number of its primary branches. During the selection process, the ability to germinate under unfavorable conditions, pollen productivity, and resistance to pests and diseases were also evaluated.
