The hybrid Szegedi 343 (also designated as Szegedi SC 343) was developed at the Gabonakutató Research Institute in the city of Szeged. The variety was intended for use in commercial grain production.

In scientific literature, the hybrid is mentioned in studies dedicated to comparative trials and the study of resistance to the pathogens Fusarium graminearum, F. culmorum, and F. verticillioides. Specific morphological characteristics of the plant are presented fragmentarily in open sources.
