The XM 4390 line is used by breeders as a tester to evaluate the combining ability of other lines, and also acts as a recurrent parent in the creation and improvement of synthetic maize populations.
This line is highly specialized breeding material. In scientific literature, information about it is presented primarily in the form of statistical data on combining ability for the grain yield trait, while detailed morphological descriptions are absent.
The material was developed at the Maize Research Institute in the city of Kneja. The line is considered part of the institute's breeding stock, created in the process of breeding work.
