Maturity group — cauliflower

The classification of cauliflower varieties and hybrids is based on the number of days from emergence to curd formation: early-maturing varieties ripen in 80–110 days, mid-season varieties in 111–125 days, and late-maturing varieties require 120–140 days or more. In applied agronomy, the period from transplanting to harvest is often considered for scheduling operations.

The choice of maturity group depends on the climatic zone: in northern regions with short summers, early varieties are preferred, whereas in southern zones with a warm climate, the vegetation of late varieties can last up to 270 days. Maturity groups differ in their biological response to temperature: early varieties are more resistant to bolting during unstable temperatures at the beginning of the season, while late varieties are sensitive to overheating and require specific conditions for crop formation.
