Sunflower lodging

Helianthus annuus L.

Sunflower lodging is the loss of plant stability, leading to yield reduction and difficulties in mechanical harvesting. A distinction is made between root lodging, due to weakened root anchorage in the soil, and stem lodging, resulting from stem breakage or bending.
