Realization of productivity potential depends directly on the cultivar's lodging resistance, which is especially important for semi-leafless types, as lodging can cause yield losses of up to 32–43%. The final harvest is also influenced by plant stand density, nitrogen fixation conditions, the level of photosynthetic activity, and field surface uniformity, which facilitates the harvesting of lower pods.
