An important morphological trait that determines lodging resistance and harvestability, varying from 65 to 180 cm depending on the genotype and environmental conditions.

Triticale plant height is measured from the soil surface to the top of the spike, excluding awns, at the heading or full maturity stage. Trait values are classified into groups: short-strawed (less than 80–85 cm), medium-height (110–130 cm), and tall (from 135 cm).

Short stature is achieved by introducing Ddw1 or Rht-type genes, which is critical for improving lodging resistance. The highest grain yields are often observed in varieties with an intermediate height of 86–105 cm, combining a strong stem with optimal architecture.

Plant height is a labile trait subject to significant changes under the influence of moisture availability, mineral nutrition, and weather conditions during the growing season.
