Black Giant Missouri
ActiveRibes aureum Pursh · Golden currant
10 August 2026
The deciduous shrub reaches 2–3 meters in height and consists of 10–25 scaffold branches. The shoots are glabrous or finely pubescent, without thorns; the leaves are leathery, 3–5-lobed. The spherical or oval fruits have a diameter of 0.8–1 cm, and their color varies from yellow and orange to purple-brown and black.
The plant possesses high winter hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -35...-45°C, as well as heat tolerance and salt tolerance. The crop is undemanding regarding soil, and due to its powerful root system, it is used for slope stabilization and the creation of shelterbelts. High resistance is noted to powdery mildew, blackcurrant gall mite, and gooseberry fruitworm.
