The variety Tessumpep, known in the trade as Summer Pepper, is an herbaceous perennial with fleshy roots. The plant reaches a height of 60 to 80 cm and is suitable for cultivation in open field, on terraces, in containers, as well as for cut flowers in bouquets.

The flowers are red in color; descriptions of red-yellow or yellow-orange shades with speckles are encountered; the flower diameter is 5–6 cm. The flowering period lasts from June to October, until the onset of frost. The variety has frost resistance down to -15 °C, which corresponds to USDA zones 7–8.
