The variety Barbara belongs to the Anthurium andraeanum group. The plant has a solid glossy spathe of a deep dark purple-red shade, corresponding to RHS code 185A. The diameter of the inflorescence is 15 to 20 centimeters.

In cultivation, the variety is considered demanding. Its maintenance requires conditions of diffused light and the maintenance of temperature in the range of 10–25°C. The irrigation regime must be regular and vary depending on the season: increasing in intensity during the summer period and minimizing in winter.
