The Arvita variety was developed as a specialized crop for pharmaceutical production needs to obtain arnica flowers with a particularly low allergenic potential. The plant originates from breeding material known as 'Spanish arnica'.
Commercial cultivation of the variety in Germany revealed the plants' vulnerability to climatic factors, including frost and drought. Due to difficulties in ensuring stable harvest volumes in this region, the variety was removed from the variety protection register.
