The variety Karita belongs to the group of Begonia elatior (Begonia x hiemalis). Genetically, the variety was obtained as a result of crossing involving tuberous begonia.
The plant possesses very low susceptibility to powdery mildew (Oidium begoniae). The variety is an ornamental flowering plant intended for cultivation in protected ground as a houseplant or greenhouse species.
