The variety belongs to the rhizomatous begonia group. The plant reaches a height of 20–40 cm and is valued for the pronounced texture and contrasting color of the foliage, which may have a spiral curl at the base.

The plant is intended for interior landscaping. It prefers bright diffused light and high air humidity; it is sensitive to drafts, temperature fluctuations, and direct sunlight.
