The original variety Iberia was registered in the mid-2000s and bred by Danisco A/S Maribo Seed; however, its detailed economic and biological characteristics are absent from open sources.
The modern hybrid Smart Iberia KWS belongs to the normal type (N) and is a diploid hybrid adapted for the ALS-group herbicide weed control technology. It demonstrates high yield, sugar content of up to 18.3%, complex resistance to Fusarium and Aphanomyces, and is suitable for medium-term harvesting.
