The sugar beet variety Marimono was developed by the breeding station of the company Maribo. This variety is classified as late-maturing, which implies its use for late harvesting.
During studies of the variety conducted in the 1970s–1980s, Marimono was examined for physiological processes during storage. Based on morphological characteristics, the variety is polyploid.
