Variety description

10 August 2026

The Solorave variety was created using breeding methods involving artificial chromosome doubling with colchicine. In literature from the 1970s to the early 1980s, it is mentioned as a commercial variety intended for cultivation for sugar production.

The chemical composition of the variety's produce was typical for sugar beet of that period, with the exception of a slightly elevated sodium content. At present, the variety is not relevant and is mentioned primarily in the context of historical research on breeding methodology.
