The Cannon variety is an F1 hybrid, during the creation of which the technology of mixing hybrid seeds and pollinator varieties was used to ensure fertility and effective pollination under field conditions. The development was based on the use of the Ogura cytoplasmic male sterility system.
In scientific publications of the late 1990s, the variety is mentioned as one of the first Danish hybrid developments. Current data on yield, morphological parameters, and resistance to modern pathogens are unavailable due to the age of the breeding.
