The variety matures 10–12 weeks after sowing and is suitable for sowing in the period from mid-July to September. The plant has a medium to above-average height, a developed root system, and intensive leaf biomass formation.
Emerald is valued as a highly digestible source of protein for sheep and cattle, maintaining forage quality until the beginning of winter. In addition to its primary use, the variety is used as a cover crop to improve soil fertility and protect against erosion.
The variety exhibits good general resistance to diseases. In scientific research, Emerald is also used as a model plant for studying physiological processes, in particular plant nutrition with phosphorus.
