The variety Oban, also referred to as SW Oban, was classified in variety trial results of the early 2000s as material that did not show significant improvements in economic indicators of seeds, oil, and protein compared to other tested varieties.
In scientific literature and patent publications of that period, the variety was used primarily as an object for laboratory research, in particular for testing biological preparations or as a feed base in entomological experiments.
