A variety of Canadian breeding, released in 1968, characterized as early-maturing compared to other varieties of its time. The main feature is the low erucic acid content, which served as the basis for the transition to using rapeseed oil for food purposes.
In modern breeding, the variety is not used in commercial crops due to low yield and lack of resistance to modern diseases. Oro is used primarily as a genetic resource and source material for developing new varieties.
