SY Iowa is an early-maturing winter oilseed rape hybrid with pronounced plant compactness and good lateral branching. The variety is characterized by low to medium-low height.

The plant possesses high resistance to lodging, Phoma stem canker due to the Rlm7 gene, and pod shattering. Tolerance to Sclerotinia and high winter hardiness of the hybrid have also been noted.

The seeds of the crop are characterized by high oil content. The hybrid demonstrates high yield and is capable of adapting to minimum tillage technologies.
