The variety was bred to increase resistance to the clubroot pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae. Its creation was based on interspecific hybridization using lines of European turnip Brassica rapa resistant to this pathogen.
The main value of the variety lay in its protective properties; however, it demonstrated vulnerability to certain virulent isolates of the pathogen. During its use, a decrease in yield was revealed in comparison with later varieties, which led to the gradual displacement of the crop from the market.
The variety belongs to the line varieties of winter rapeseed. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are not provided in available scientific publications, as the researchers' main attention was focused on studying genetic resistance to diseases.
