The variety Lavagnino is a traditional local landrace from the Liguria region, Italy. The plant reaches 90 cm in height and up to 100 cm in diameter. The variety forms an elongated head weighing up to 1 kg.

The outer leaves of the plant are curly and blistered, the inner ones are light green and slightly blistered; in late varieties, they can acquire a purple-pink hue. The variety possesses excellent resistance to cold and is intended for autumn-winter cultivation in the open field.

The produce is used in cooking and is valued for its tenderness and softness, especially after the first frosts. The variety includes forms with different maturity periods.
