The variety is a vigorous, fast-growing plant with large smooth leaves of green or green-gray color. A characteristic feature is the absence of head formation, which distinguishes this variety from Savoy cabbage.
The plant possesses high resistance to low temperatures. Depending on growing conditions, it is described as a late-maturing variety, suitable for sowing from spring until the end of September.
It is traditionally used in cooking, in particular for the preparation of the Portuguese soup caldo verde. It can also be used as a forage crop.
