Variety description

The shrub is distinguished by a compact habit with arching upright branches. Foliage is grayish-green, lanceolate, and pointed. Flowers of a blue-violet hue with an orange eye are gathered in dense cone-shaped panicles up to 25 cm long.

Flowering lasts from July to October; repeat flowering is possible if faded inflorescences are removed. The plant is winter hardy in USDA zones 5–9, withstands down to -20°C, and is drought tolerant. It is often characterized as sterile, not producing seeds. Used in group and solitary plantings, as well as in container gardening.
