The plant is a low-growing perennial, forming dense cushion-like or carpet-like thickets 10–20 cm in height. Leaves are rounded or kidney-shaped, with a cordate base and a serrated margin. Flowers are bell-shaped, blue-violet or deep purple in color.

A distinctive morphological feature of this breeding sample is the parallel arrangement of the sides of the corolla tube. The period of abundant flowering occurs in the summer months from May–June to July–August. The plant is used as a groundcover crop, for rock garden design, and for cultivation in containers, requiring good drainage.
