The plant forms a compact or spreading bush with weakly branched shoots and glossy light green foliage. Basal leaves are ovate in shape and are located on petioles.

The bell-shaped or goblet-shaped flowers reach a length of 5–6 cm and have a deep ink-violet color, while the buds appear almost black.

The variety belongs to USDA hardiness zone 5, prefers well-drained soils, and does not tolerate excessive moisture. Used in landscape design for group and single plantings, rock gardens, and cut flowers.
