PALAGRUŽA, PALAGRUŠKA KAPRA is a naturally adapted local variety of caper, registered in the state register as an autochthonous variety. The plant is a perennial woody shrub with shoots up to 2 meters long, possessing fleshy rounded leaves with a shiny surface.

This type possesses high drought tolerance and is adapted to growing on rocks, walls, and rocky soils. For successful development, the plant requires sunny sites protected from wind and well-drained soils. Excessive moisture is contraindicated, as it provokes fungal diseases.

The economic use of the species consists in harvesting flower buds for subsequent preservation. Fruiting begins in the fifth year of life, and the productive lifespan of the bush is 30–40 years.
