The variety was developed at the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute in Plovdiv. Plants of this variety are characterized by stable but relatively low productivity, due to which the variety is traditionally used in breeding practice as a reference object for evaluating quantitative traits and the yield of new breeding samples.
During scientific experiments, the Hebar variety is used to evaluate fruit morphological parameters, such as their weight, length, diameter, and pericarp thickness. The variety is also used as a control object when studying the crop's resistance to Verticillium wilt caused by Verticillium dahliae.
