This rootstock is used in professional vegetable growing for grafting sweet pepper varieties. Its main task is to provide protection against wilting caused by the oomycete Phytophthora capsici, as well as to increase resistance to Meloidogyne incognita nematodes due to the presence of the Me1 gene.
The use of the Terrano rootstock influences scion morphology. Studies confirm that it contributes to suppressing plant height growth through mechanisms of biomass regulation and gibberellin level control.
