The Suerre variety (official designation INTA-UCR 1785) is an open-pollinated type. A key feature is the presence of the ml70 genetic mutation, due to which approximately 95% of the plants are hermaphroditic. This allows for planting one plant per hole, eliminating the need for sex determination and thinning.
Fruits at the maturity stage weigh 490–530 g, possess firm orange flesh, a small seed cavity, and a sugar content of 12–12.7 degrees Brix. The height of the first fruit set is 89–90 cm. The variety is characterized by increased resistance to anthracnose compared to local Creole varieties and the Pococí hybrid.
