Variety description

10 August 2026

Chamelaucium uncinatum is an evergreen shrub of the Myrtaceae family, endemic to Western Australia. The name Kalbarri is used to describe forms originating from the vicinity of the town of the same name and is often used in trade to denote compact plants with pink or purple flowers.

The plant has narrow needle-like leaves and forms a dense spreading crown. The height of the shrub under natural conditions ranges from 1.5 to 4 meters. The flowers are five-petaled and waxy, with coloration varying from white to purple. Flowering usually occurs in the winter-spring period.

The crop is used in landscaping as an ornamental plant and in the cut flower industry. The species is relatively drought-tolerant, prefers well-drained soils, and is susceptible to myrtle rust. To maintain the shape of the crown, plants often require regular pruning or support.
