Variety description

The Cynober variety is a tetraploid form (4n=24) of Chelidonium majus, which provides increased productivity and accumulation of alkaloids in raw materials of up to 2.9% calculated as chelidonine. The plant reaches a height of up to 1 meter and is adapted to open field cultivation conditions with the possibility of mechanized harvesting.
The yield of the variety is about 15 c/ha of dry herb raw material and up to 20 c/ha of roots per hectare. The variety develops better on fertile humus soils with a neutral reaction. It is propagated by seeds with optimal pre-winter sowing at an interval of 40 cm between rows.
The plant is undemanding to growing conditions, however, it requires nitrogen-rich soils. Specific data on resistance to diseases or lodging are not recorded in the documentation.
